The AUB Committee on Compliance and Financial Monitoring (Banks) approved the frequency of meetings, the number and structure of working groups, and adopted a detailed work plan for 2026

On December 10, a meeting of the Compliance and Financial Monitoring Committee (banks) of the Association of Ukrainian Banks was held, chaired by Hanna Valeriivna Gorbenko. The meeting was attended by heads and specialists of compliance, financial monitoring, analytics, and risk management departments of leading Ukrainian banks.

The participants agreed with the Committee Chair's proposal to introduce a monthly cycle of meetings in 2026. The schedule provides for a combination of online and offline formats and covers key topics relevant to the banking sector.

In particular, the following topics are planned for discussion in the first half of the year:

  • CIS onboarding standards and approaches to creating CIS customer profiles;

  • new regulatory changes and practical cases of banks;

  • preparation for NBU inspections, including typical comments and requirements for evidence base;

  • analytics of the effectiveness of financial monitoring systems, optimization of risk models and scenarios.

The second half of the year will be devoted to:

  • sharing best market practices;

  • analyzing regulatory innovations;

  • interaction between banks and regulators and the formation of a unified interpretation of requirements;

  • planning and forming a roadmap for the Committee's work in 2027.

     

The committee approved a structure consisting of five working groups that will focus on the following areas:

  • KYC / identification and onboarding

  • Analytics, risk models

  • Currency supervision

  • NBU inspections and regulatory interaction

  • Sanctions and sanctions compliance

Each bank can join two areas or more groups at its discretion.
Separately, the concept of white papers and analytical digests was presented during the meeting.
The meeting participants agreed that the Committee's work should result in the formation of a unified, reasoned, and practical position of the banking market regarding the application of regulatory requirements. It was also concluded that, thanks to the structured work of the working groups, the banking community will be able to more effectively formulate proposals to the NBU, avoid contradictions in the interpretation of regulations, and improve the quality of compliance in the market.
