AUB presented the Analytical Platform for the Banking Sector: from statistics to deep analysis
On May 16, 2025, a public presentation of the Analytical Platform of the Banking Sector, developed by the Association of Ukrainian Banks in cooperation with the State Institution "Institute of Economics and Forecasting of the NAS of Ukraine", was held at the Media Center Ukraine (Kyiv). The platform became the answer to modern challenges - the need for deep, flexible and at the same time fast analytics of the financial market.
A tool for everyone — from a student to a banker
“This is not a commercial product, but an open tool that we created for the benefit of the banking sector, academics, economic journalists, students and everyone who analyzes financial data,” said Andriy Dubas, President of AUB. He emphasized that version 2.0 of the platform is the result of collective intellectual work and an example of how digital tools can reduce time spent on routine and provide a new quality of analytics.
NBU: open data as the basis for efficiency
Yuriy Polovnyov, Director of the Statistics and Reporting Department of the National Bank of Ukraine, expressed support for the platform. According to him, “openness, transparency and digitalization are the daily practice of the National Bank, and an initiative such as the AUB platform is a logical continuation of this course.”
Polovnyov emphasized that the growth of reporting volumes requires its high-quality presentation. This is where such projects allow the banking sector to increase efficiency — through visualization, automation of data processing and API development.
What the platform can do: key features
Oleksiy Shpanel-Yukhta, co-developer of the Platform, junior researcher at the Institute of Economics and Forecasting of the NAS of Ukraine, demonstrated the platform's capabilities in detail:
- Interactive analytics for each bank - from net assets and loan portfolio to performance indicators (ROA, Cost to Income, NPL).
- Overview of the banking system in numbers - number of institutions, profit, branch dynamics, digital trends.
- Rankings by key indicators - assets, liabilities, loans, profits and efficiency.
- Detailing by industries and credit activity - for example, which banks lend the most to the processing industry or agriculture.
- Data on payment behavior - number of cards, payment dynamics, average checks, foreign acquiring.
“We took care of convenience — both for specialists and for the average user who wants, for example, to compare banks in terms of reliability before making a deposit,” — noted Shpanel-Yukhta.
The platform is built on Microsoft Power BI, and data comes through automatic updates from the NBU website. “This allows us to minimize the human factor and maintain a high frequency of information updates — daily,” — explained Oleksandr Markovsky, AUB advisor and co-developer of the Platform.
According to him, the plans include the implementation of artificial intelligence, which will be able to automatically generate reports on changes in the banking system, trends and risks.
The question and answer session can be called an interactive real-time test of the platform. Students, teachers, and bank representatives asked specific questions: from checking standards to visualizing the industry structure of lending to specific banks.
Constructive suggestions were also made regarding future additions:
- expanding data export capabilities;
- setting the duration of the analytical period (more than 12 months);
- adding quantitative customer indicators;
- comparing the bank with other banks and groups.
The developers have confirmed: these options will be taken into account in versions 2.1 and 3.0.
The AUB platform is an example of a modern analytical product
The speakers noted that the AUB analytical platform is a practical tool for increasing the transparency of the banking sector and improving analytical work, combining open data, digitalization and modern technologies. It allows you to move from manual processing to deep, interactive analysis of financial indicators - both for individual banks and for the system as a whole.
The developers emphasized the multifunctionality of the platform: from assessing the standards of a particular bank to ranking by efficiency, analyzing lending by industry, reviewing the dynamics of digital payments and working with detailed balance sheet data. All data is updated automatically daily based on publications of the National Bank of Ukraine.
Students, teachers and bank representatives present at the presentation expressed interest in using the platform in education, scientific work and business practice. A number of constructive questions were raised regarding the possibility of comparing banks, expanding analysis periods, and exporting data - and the developers confirmed that these functions will be implemented in subsequent versions.
In conclusion, the participants of the presentation noted that the AUB Platform is an example of a modern analytical product that combines openness, technologicality and practical utility. It will become an important support for researchers, bankers, students and everyone who works with banking data, making the financial system more understandable, predictable and closer to European standards.
“Everyone contributes to the victory - someone on the front line, someone in the laboratory, and we - in the transparency of the financial market,” Oleksandr Markovsky summed up.
