"Banks comply with about 70% of EU regulations. Significant changes await the non-banking sector" - Andriy Dubas, President of AUB
The banking sector of Ukraine already demonstrates a high level of compliance with European standards - about 70% of regulations comply with EU norms. At the same time, for the non-banking financial sector, which has been under the supervision of the National Bank only since 2020, the changes will be more significant. This was stated by AUB President Andriy Dubas during his speech at the international conference “PULSE OF DIGITAL: Client at the Center”.
“For non-banking financial institutions and payment service providers, the changes will be greater than for banks, since banking regulation is adapted today,” the AUB President noted.
He noted that AUB is actively working to ensure that the European integration process is not just directive, but includes deep feedback from the financial community. This will allow us to preserve the unique innovative practices of Ukrainian financial institutions and share them with European partners.
"We want the changes that await us on the path to Ukraine's accession to the EU to go through a deep analysis in the professional community. For two reasons. First, so that market participants understand what awaits them and clearly realize why this or that standard is being implemented today or tomorrow. And secondly, so that the community can provide its feedback. After all, it is thanks to this that we will be able to preserve our strong, unique principles. I believe that this is worth fighting for. And, in fact, we have been actively working on this for about half a year and are moving quite successfully. Because these processes will come to us one way or another - the state has made its existential choice in favor of European integration. Now the question is for you and me - for bankers, for representatives of non-bank financial institutions: will we simply be objects of this process, or will we be able to become its subjects and influence it within our capabilities? We do not exaggerate our strengths, but we have a chance to take advantage of this opportunity," Andriy noted. Dubas.
The AUB President also said that the Association is actively involved in the European integration process of Ukraine, having created a permanent European Integration Committee with the participation of representatives of over 50 banks. Andriy Dubas also recalled that Ukrainian banks already offer digital services that are ahead of similar ones in many EU countries - in particular, this is opening accounts in a few minutes and using remote identification technologies.
During his speech, the AUB President also noted the partnership with the International Financial Club "BANKIR", presenting the conference organizers with a letter of gratitude and a commemorative coin on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the Association of Ukrainian Banks.
