Укр Results of the Association of Ukrainian Banks for March 2025
On a monthly basis, we inform AUB members about the activities of the Association of Ukrainian Banks (hereinafter referred to as the Association or AUB). Therefore, we inform about individual measures/steps taken by the Association during March 2025 to address current issues of development and protection of the interests of the financial sector.
Banking sector issues
✓ AUB has processed the response from the National Bank of Ukraine regarding the provision of clarifications on financial transactions under financial leasing agreements.
✓ The Association has sent a letter to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine with proposals regarding the draft Law of Ukraine “On Factoring”.
✓ AUB processed the response from the National Bank of Ukraine regarding the provision of clarifications on the analysis of the suitability of an electronic payment instrument when repaying a loan. 2 Issues of non-bank financial institutions
✓ AUB sent an appeal to the Office of the President of Ukraine regarding increasing the level of digitalization in Ukraine.
✓ The Association processed the response from the National Bank of Ukraine regarding the provision of clarifications on the status of politically exposed persons and issues of applying financial monitoring.
Participation in thematic events
✓On March 6, the President of the Association was included in the broadcast of the First Channel of Public Broadcasting regarding the increase in the discount rate by the National Bank of Ukraine to 15.5%.
✓ On March 6, the President of the Association gave his live commentary on the financial situation in Ukraine in connection with the increase in the discount rate, inflation and exchange rates, and also gave practical advice on preserving savings.
On March 7, the President of AUB, on the air of the Inter TV channel, provided comments on impact of seasonal and economic factors on the currency market.
✓ On March 13, the Association held a ceremony to award financial market leaders "Main Financial Award of the Year".
✓ On March 19, a meeting of the AUB Non-Bank Lending Development Committee was held.
✓ On March 19, a training on ESG was held with the participation of Yukka Honkaniemi.
✓ On March 20, a meeting of the AUB Compliance and Financial Monitoring Committee was held.
✓ On March 20, the President of the Association took part in a briefing at Media Center Ukraine on the topic "Financial Stability and Currency Challenges: What Awaits Ukrainians in 2025?"
✓ On March 26, the Association held the "All-Ukrainian Forum on Financial Technologies: Trends and Prospects".
✓ On March 28, the President of AUB gave comments on the topic: "Hryvnia Exchange Rate, Deposits, Lending: Main Trends in April".
Media Coverage of AUB Activities
✓ In March, the Association continued its active coverage of key events in the financial and banking sector. One of the important areas was the continuation of the television project “Financial Literacy” on the Espresso TV channel. As part of the program, representatives of financial institutions – AUB members – shared their professional experience and explained to citizens current changes and trends in the field of finance.
✓ Issues related to the discount rate, bank loans, consumer lending and bank deposits were covered. Important comments and analytics of AUB representatives on these topics were aired on leading television platforms – Inter (United News), Suspilne Pershyi, Espresso, Channel 5.
✓ The Association’s activities were noted in reputable business publications – Forbes and NV, regarding the “All-Ukrainian Forum on Financial Technologies”, which discussed the future of the fintech industry, artificial intelligence and regulation of non-banking institutions.
✓ The Association held a meeting with the Export Credit Agency, where they discussed mechanisms for financial support for exporters and launched a new project to promote export development.
✓The Association also joined Global Money Week, holding educational events for youth on financial literacy, cybersecurity, and risk management.
✓ The Association, together with financial expert Dr. Jukka Honkaniemi, conducted a special training on the implementation of ESG principles in the financial sector.
