Укр Statement of the Association of Ukrainian Banks on the inadmissibility of management and ownership of financial institutions in Ukraine by citizens of the aggressor country - russia
The Association of Ukrainian Banks (AUB) strongly condemns the activities of financial companies that violate the current legislation of Ukraine, in particular the regulatory norms of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU), which explicitly prohibit citizens of the russian federation from managing and owning non-bank financial institutions.
The non-bank financial institutions that are members of the Association represent about 80% of the non-bank lending market. UABio members adhere to the NBU's Concept of Responsible Lending, advocate transparency of the non-bank lending market, are conscientious taxpayers, create new jobs and develop the fintech industry in Ukraine.
Since the first days of the full-scale russian aggression, non-bank financial institutions that are members of the AUB have been supporting the Ukrainian army, which has been giving a worthy fight back to the Russian occupation forces.
The NBU is currently implementing new regulations in the non-bank lending market, in particular, tightening requirements for financial monitoring - activities to detect illegally obtained income and prevent terrorist financing. The members of the Association support the NBU's policy in the field of financial monitoring and the regulator's efforts to clean up the non-bank lending market from unscrupulous companies whose non-transparent and sometimes illegal activities cast a shadow over the entire market.
Today, non-bank financial institutions that are members of the AUB are actively implementing the policy of financial inclusion and responsible lending, providing financial products that are socially important during the war, when the living standards of citizens are declining.
Any financial institutions whose ultimate beneficiaries are citizens of the aggressor country Russia have no legal right to operate in Ukraine and receive income to finance Russia's war against Ukraine.
The Association of Ukrainian Banks is grateful to the journalistic community that reveals the facts of illegal activities of financial institutions. Together, we are making Ukraine's financial system more stable and stronger by clearing the market of companies whose activities ultimately pose a threat to the national security of our country.
We emphasize that non-bank financial institutions that are members of the AUB operate in accordance with the law, transparently and responsibly, supporting the financial stability of the country.
