Association of Ukrainian Banks supports POWER BANKING outlets in the heroic city of Kharkiv

On 30 May, representatives of the Association of Ukrainian Banks (AUB) visited the heroic city of Kharkiv to express support and gratitude to the teams of bank employees working in difficult wartime conditions.

AUB President Andriy Dubas, First Vice President Vitaliy Romanchukevych, and AUB Vice President Sergey Mamedov visited 23 bank branches of the POWER BANKING network to support and thank the employees for their dedication and professionalism.

Power Banking is a unified network of Ukrainian bank branches created at the initiative of the NBU, which will operate and provide the necessary services to customers even in the event of a prolonged power outage.

"When a bank operates even in the face of a complete power outage, Internet and communications, it sends a signal of hope. If the bank is working, the city is alive. We are doing this for the sake of our struggle, for the sake of our military," - said Andrey Dubas.
"When businesses, banks, and the economy operate in frontline cities despite the shelling and daily threats to their lives, even in the face of blackout, it gives hope and motivates us to fight for the future of the country. Bank employees who had no experience and no training to work in extreme conditions are now able to run generators, install satellite internet and connect alternative communication channels,’ he added.

During power outages, POWER BANKING branches become centres of stability, places where Ukrainians receive not only banking services but also can contact their relatives if necessary. Bank branches are provided with backup power sources and Internet access.

The large-scale Russian shelling of Ukraine's energy infrastructure in winter 2022 and spring 2024 failed to undermine the country's financial stability - today, Ukrainian banks are able to operate even in blackout conditions. In Kharkiv, where Russian attacks led to a large-scale power outage, 121 POWER BANKING outlets in the city and region continued to operate, providing essential services.

"The generators and Starlink systems that each branch of the POWER BANKING network is equipped with allow us to ensure the uninterrupted operation of bank branches. The POWER BANKING network has proven its efficiency, assured the society of the stable operation of the banking system and helps customers to solve their financial issues in a timely manner," - said Vitaliy Romanchukevych.

The Association of Ukrainian Banks prepared letters of gratitude to the staff of the branches of the AUB member banks: GLOBUS, A-BANK, BANK VOSTOK, PRAVEX BANK, ALLIANCE BANK, UKREXIMBANK, EPB, IDEA BANK, INDUSTRIALBANK, COMINBANK, MTB BANK, RADABANK, SKY BANK, TASKOMBANK, UKRGASBANK.

‘On my own behalf and on behalf of the entire community of the Association of Ukrainian Banks, I sincerely thank every bank employee who works in the heroic city of Kharkiv today,’ - said Sergey Mamedov.

Representatives of the UBA are planning further visits to other cities, such as Chernihiv, Sumy, Mykolaiv, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, to continue supporting the bank branches of the POWER BANKING network.
