Oschadbank and the Ukrainian Women's Congress launch a financial literacy project for women
Oschadbank and the Ukrainian Women's Congress are launching a large-scale program to improve women's financial literacy in the regions of Ukraine. The parties signed a corresponding memorandum on Wednesday, May 21.
The bank, in cooperation with UZhK, is conducting a series of studies on the level of knowledge of women of different ages and social groups about financial instruments and services. Based on the research, a training program and methodological materials will be developed. A pilot educational project will be conducted in a specific territorial community.
"Oschadbank wants its clients to gain new knowledge, and therefore new opportunities. This coincides with the goals of the Ukrainian Women's Congress, which seeks to enable more women and motivate them to new achievements. We have chosen UZhK as a partner as a leading organization that has been setting the agenda in the field of gender equality for many years," said Serhiy Naumov, Chairman of the Board of Oschadbank, who arrived during the ceremony to sign the memorandum.
“Since the beginning of the full-scale war, we have determined that our bank cannot remain a financial institution and remain aloof from the problems of the community where we work. And Oschad is present in all controlled Ukrainian regions. Our new partner, the Ukrainian Women's Congress, also has deep knowledge of the regions. We will provide additional knowledge and expand opportunities for personal and business growth. We are investing in the project of great hope launched today,” said Roza Tapanova, a member of the Supervisory Board of Oschadbank.
In turn, the director of UZHK Svitlana Voitsekhovska said that the request for an educational program of financial literacy for women has become more urgent during the years of the war.
“We see at our Congresses how the roles of women are changing. How many women are opening new businesses or taking over management in their husband's businesses. And at the same time, we see how they are afraid to grow, scale - because they lack financial knowledge. UZhK is grateful to Oschadbank for its partnership in such a necessary educational project,” said Svitlana Voitsekhovska.
Oschadbank is a leading Ukrainian universal bank, 100% of whose shares are owned by the state. It has the largest network, which as of the end of 2024 has about 1,150 branches. Oschad’s client base consists of about 6 million active clients from among individuals, micro, small and medium-sized businesses, and large state-owned and private companies. Oschad’s mission is to provide high-quality inclusive, innovative and affordable financial services for Ukrainians and entrepreneurs in all controlled territories of Ukraine, to ensure stability, leadership in the restoration and support of Ukrainian business and strategic sectors of the economy, and to ensure standards of high sustainable development.
The Ukrainian Women's Congress is a non-governmental organization that has been shaping support for women's leadership and the gender policy agenda for the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Government, local communities, the private and public sectors, and the media community since 2014. The co-founders of the UWC are Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Olena Kondratyuk, MPs Maria Ionova and Svitlana Voytsekhovska.
