Lidiya Stepanivna has lived in Ocheretyne all her life. She had to leave her home, which she built with her own hands, because the Russians destroyed it. To survive, the woman decided to make her way to the Ukrainian-controlled territory on her own and travelled about 10 kilometres.

Her house was bought by monobank | Universal Bank.

"The story of Lidiya Stepanivna, who made a heroic journey from the occupied territory and lost her home, where she had lived all her life, shook the world. We could not stand aside and, as promised, bought a house for the grandmother 🇺🇦
We wish you strength, health and many years!’ the bank said.

Lidiya Stepanovna received her new house on 4 June. The woman is very happy with her new home and is already planning to plant a vegetable garden here next year.

"It's a nice house, but it needs to be fixed up.
She used to cook for herself. Now we cook for her. If we leave her alone, what will she do? In about a month or two, we will all move. For now, we have work to do. The harvest will be over soon and we can move,’ says Svitlana, Lidia Stepanivna's granddaughter.

"It's a nice house, but it needs to be fixed up. I told Svitlana (my granddaughter): I will row it with my hands. You also need to plant things, otherwise they won't grow. Just like we lived in the village there: we planted everything - cabbage, peppers, everything. And now I don't know whether to go back there, where to go to that house when it was on fire,’ she shares her impressions.

Lidiya Stepanivna currently lives with her family in the village of Volodymyrivka in Donetsk Oblast. They plan to move to a new home after the harvest.

"Now she lives with me. She used to cook for herself. Now we cook for her. If we leave her alone, what will she do? In about a month or two, we will all move. For now, we have work to do. The harvest will be over soon and we can move,’ says Svitlana, Lidia Stepanivna's granddaughter.
