On October 2, 2025, the Association of Ukrainian Banks, in collaboration with VSchool, organized a professional meeting of the expert community on the topic: “Financial Monitoring: Current Challenges and Prospects in the Context of Regulatory Pressure.” The event brought together more than 50 senior specialists from banking and non-banking financial institutions.
The event combined educational elements, discussions, practical case studies, and the search for common solutions. This format proved to be extremely successful: participants highly appreciated the substantive topics, open dialogue, and the opportunity to exchange experiences with colleagues and like-minded people.
During the meeting, key challenges of modern financial monitoring were outlined, particularly in the area of combating the legalization (laundering) of proceeds from crime. Among the main topics were the use of artificial intelligence in fraudulent schemes and cybercrime, the growing risks associated with virtual assets, and tax evasion through business fragmentation and drop activities.
Special attention was paid to modern Ukrainian services operating in the field of open data, analytics, and state registries. These tools were noted as particularly useful for financial monitoring specialists due to their ability to provide quick and convenient access to up-to-date data.
Participants also discussed the implementation of new regulatory requirements, in particular, the introduction of updated forms of information exchange with the State Financial Monitoring Service from December 1, 2025, as well as the market's readiness for these changes. It was noted that some software providers are still in the process of completing the necessary technical processes.
Experts emphasized the importance of developing analytical approaches, improving the efficiency of internal processes in banks, and systematically training young professionals to work in the field of financial monitoring.
During the discussions, the prospects for the development of financial monitoring in the context of the growing regulatory burden and Ukraine's international obligations were outlined. Considerable attention was paid to the practical aspects of implementing these requirements in the daily activities of banks and financial institutions.
According to participants, the Association of Ukrainian Banks created all the conditions for meaningful dialogue and a warm atmosphere for discussing current issues in an open exchange of views.
The AUB will continue to support the development of the financial system, the improvement of regulatory compliance processes, and the introduction of innovations in the banking sector.
