Державна митна служба  України на звернення Асоціації українських банків скасувала вимогу до вітчизняних банків вказувати у вантажних митних деклараціях інформацію про серії та номера банкнот іноземних держав, що ввозяться до України. Як підкреслив Президент АУБ Олександр Сугоняко, ця вимога не відповідала міжнародній практиці і могла спричинити до додаткових витрат при ввезенні готівки, що, у свою чергу, створювало б передумови для зростання курсу іноземних валют щодо гривні. З цієї причини Президентом АУБ було направлено відповідні листи до Голови Держмитслужби. Оскільки митники не реагували на звернення з проханням скасувати згадану вимогу, їх було адресовано Прем’єр-міністру України.

За результатами вжитих АУБ заходів українські митники пішли на зустріч банкірам. Зокрема, своїм листом № 11/2-10-613-ЕП від 16.01.2003 Державна митна служба  України визначила, що її листи від 06.12.2002  № 11/2-10-12044-ЕП та від 13.12.2002 № 11/2-10-12446-ЕП  щодо декларування банкнот іноземних держав втратили чинність.  Як прокоментував цей факт Президент АУБ, скасування вимог є полегшенням в роботі як українських банкірів, так і самих митників, оскільки позбавляє їх від зайвих формальностей, втрати часу та коштів при проходженні митних процедур. Особливо позитивно Президент АУБ сприйняв реакцію уряду, завдяки втручанням якого митники скасували вимоги.

The State Customs Services of Ukraine upon request of the Association of Ukrainian Banks has attained cancellation of the requirement to banks to indicate series and numbers of foreign countries’ banknotes to be imported into Ukraine. As Mr. Oleksandr Sugonyako, President of the Association of Ukrainian Banks, emphasized that this requirement did not conform to international practice and could cause additional expenses when importing cash that in its turn would create conditions for foreign currency rate’s rise with relation to hryvna. For this reason the President of AUB forwarded appropriate letters to the Head of the State Customs Services.

Since customs officials did not response to the request to abolish the requirement mentioned above it was re-addressed to the Prime Minister of Ukraine.

According to the results of the measures undertaken by AUB Ukrainian customs officials agreed to a meeting with bankers. In particular, with their letter № 11/2-10-613-ЕП of January 16, 2003 it was found out that its letters of December 6, 2002 № 11/2-10-12044-ЕП and that of December 13, 2002 № 11/2-10-12446-ЕП as to foreign countries banknotes’ indicating were invalid. The President of AUB commented on this fact that abolishing these requirements alleviated the work of both Ukrainian bankers and customs officials themselves for it relieved them of excessive formalities, loss of time and expenses when attending to customs formalities. The President of AUB accepted the response of the Cabinet of Ministers in a most positive way thanks to whose interference the customs officials cancelled these requirements.
