AUB Vice President Petro Pekur participated in the URC2025 International Conference on Ukraine's Recovery in Rome
Petro Pekur, Vice President of the Association of Ukrainian Banks, spoke at the International Conference on the Recovery of Ukraine (URC2025), which took place in Rome. The event brought together representatives of governments, international financial institutions, business, and civil society.
The Ukrainian delegation included key officials from the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. In his speech, the Vice President of the AUB focused on issues of defense capability and financing of the security sector. During the conference, he had a personal meeting with European Commissioner for Defense Andrius Kubilius.

“It was interesting to hear about the European Union's planned projects for Ukraine. After this discussion, I can say that Europe understands that without funding, there will be no future for Ukraine,” said Petro Pekur.
According to him, various mechanisms for financing arms purchases, in particular from the US, as well as support for Ukrainian defense enterprises, are currently being actively discussed at the EU level. One of the priority areas is the purchase of drones: the EU has already allocated more than €500 million for this purpose.
The conference also featured a thematic panel dedicated to the development of drone production in Ukraine. The event was organized by the Ministry of Strategic Industries of Ukraine. Deputy Minister Anna Gvozdyar and representatives of Ukrainian drone manufacturers took part in the discussion, presenting successful case studies and sharing their experience in development and production.

"Over the years of full-scale war, many Ukrainian companies have established their own production, including spare parts for drones. We already have specific requests from European partners who are interested in joint projects. European companies are ready to invest in the relocation of Ukrainian teams and the creation of joint production sites in EU countries," commented Mr. Pekur.
The Association of Ukrainian Banks will continue to promote international cooperation and attract financial support to strengthen Ukraine's economic and defense capabilities.
