Results of the Activities of the Association of Ukrainian Banks for April 2025

On a monthly basis, we report on the activities of the Association of Ukrainian Banks (hereinafter – the Association or AUB). Therefore, we provide information on selected actions/steps taken by the Association during April 2025 to address current issues related to the development and protection of the financial sector.

Banking Sector Issues

The Association sent a letter to the National Bank of Ukraine regarding the revision of simplified identification and verification limits for clients.
AUB sent a letter to the National Bank of Ukraine concerning the introduction of automatic information exchange on financial monitoring matters with the FIU.

Issues of Non-Banking Financial Institutions

The Association processed a response from the Office of the President of Ukraine regarding the appeal to enhance the level of digitalization in Ukraine.
AUB sent a letter to the National Bank of Ukraine regarding exemptions in foreign exchange operations.

Participation in Thematic Events

On April 4, the First Vice President of the Association of Ukrainian Banks took part in the program “From the First Person.” During the broadcast, key issues of the development of Ukraine’s banking system in the context of war were discussed.
On April 8, a strategic workshop on the European integration of the financial sector was held, organized by AUB with the support of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
On April 11, the Association of Ukrainian Banks opened its representative office in Brussels. The main objectives of the new office are to establish a sustainable dialogue with European institutions, represent the interests of the Ukrainian banking sector at the EU level, and actively participate in Ukraine’s European integration process.
On April 18, the Committee on Documentary Operations Development of the Association of Ukrainian Banks held a meeting. A new pilot project by Prozorro.Sale JSC was presented during the event.
Between April 17–19 and April 24–26, a professional development program for financial institution leaders was conducted on the topic “Corporate Governance in Financial Institutions,” hosted by AUB.
On April 23, the AUB Mortgage Lending Development Committee held a meeting.
From April 28 to May 1, the President of the Association attended the “Carpathian Sea Democratic Week” Forum and participated as a speaker.

Media Coverage of AUB Activities

Throughout April, the Association of Ukrainian Banks (AUB) actively communicated key financial sector topics through national media. AUB representatives appeared on leading platforms, including Espresso TV (“Financial Literacy,” “Money During War”), Inter (telethon “United News”), ECO TV (“From the First Person”), and Ukrainian Radio.
Topics included the stability of the hryvnia, currency policy, inflation, the role of the NBU, financial inclusion, responsible lending, bank deposits, and government bonds. AUB representatives explained economic processes in simple terms, emphasizing transparent market regulation and consumer protection, including the possibility of pegging the hryvnia to the euro.
AUB also reported on the signing of a Memorandum on Responsible Lending aimed at organizing the activities of non-bank institutions and preventing market abuse.

In addition to media outreach, AUB top management represented the banking community at the PULSE OF DIGITAL, BUSINESS THINKERS FORUM, and USUBC-BUCC Business Forum conferences.

The mission of the Association of Ukrainian Banks is to support the development of the national banking system. The AUB cooperates with the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on improving the legislation governing banking activities, and interacts with the National Bank of Ukraine on regulatory support for the functioning of banks and non-bank financial institutions. The CBA takes care of the professional development of bank employees, expands international relations with associations and banking institutions of other countries.
