"Law 9422 will have the greatest impact on the non-bank lending market in 2024"
On January 1, new legislation came into effect that limits microloan rates to 1% per day. According to Moneyveo CEO Serhii Sinchenko, rate restrictions will significantly affect the philosophy of companies that provide microfinance services. "Our mission is to lend responsibly. Ideally, without delays, and if such occur, we still strive to maintain the loyalty of the client, looking for a mutually beneficial solution. That's why I don't see interest rate restrictions as a negative. After all, there is indeed a small share of players in this market, for whom charging large interest for late payments is a significant component of profitability. The new law will deprive them of this opportunity. These companies will either have to change their strategy and adapt to new conditions, or leave the market. And such a change will have a positive effect on the entire market, will make the conditions more transparent, understandable, more attractive for a wider audience", - noted Sehiy Sinchenko.
At the same time, the CEO of Moneyveo noted that the microcredit market will grow in 2024, although the growth is unlikely to be very rapid.
Let us remind you that on December 21, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi signed draft law No. 9422 on improving state regulation of financial services markets, which, in particular, lowers the marginal rate of microcredit for 240 days from 2.5% up to 1% per day.
