GLOBUS BANK has issued the first loan under the updated terms of the state program “Energy Independence for Individuals—Homeowners.” The borrower is a 62-year-old resident of Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast who is retired and also provides accounting services.
The client received UAH 300,000 for a 5-year term to purchase and install a 10 kW solar power plant for her private household.
According to the bank, the state program was expanded in March 2026: in addition to solar power plants, it now includes generators—diesel, gasoline, gas, or dual-fuel. This has significantly increased interest among Ukrainians, as households now have more opportunities to enhance their energy resilience.
One of the program’s key advantages is state compensation of the interest rate for the first three years. In the first year, the rate for the borrower is 0% per annum; in the second, 5%; and in the third, 7%. Starting in the fourth year, a floating rate applies based on the formula: 3-month UIRD + 7%. Additionally, after purchasing and installing the equipment, the borrower may receive additional compensation for a portion of the loan—ranging from 20% to 30%, depending on the type of equipment.
Under the updated terms, the loan is provided for a term of up to 10 years, with no down payment, and the maximum financing amount is up to UAH 480,000. The program applies only to private homes with an area not exceeding 300 m² and does not apply to apartments.
According to Dmytro Zamotaev, Director of the Retail Business Department at GLOBUS BANK, to participate in the program, a citizen must decide on the type of equipment, obtain a document from the seller or contractor confirming its cost and installation, prepare documents for the property and proof of income, and contact a partner bank. After installation, the borrower must confirm the installation of the equipment with a certificate of completion or a similar document, photo evidence with geolocation, and data on electricity consumption.
“The updated terms of the ‘Energy Independence for Individuals—Homeowners’ program have significantly expanded opportunities for borrowers: the government compensates for part of the interest rate, additional compensation for part of the loan amount is provided, and the list of eligible equipment has been expanded. That is why people should take a closer look at this program, as it allows them to invest in the energy independence of a private home without placing an excessive burden on the family budget,” noted Dmytro Zamotaev.
